Every Wayne County Basement Needs a Sump Pump
The water table across Wayne County — especially downriver in Wyandotte, Lincoln Park, Taylor, and Trenton — sits high enough that hydrostatic pressure will push water through any crack or joint during a wet spring or heavy storm. A properly sized sump pump is your insurance policy. A battery backup is non-negotiable.
Primary Sump Pump — $400 to $900 Installed
We install 1/3 to 1/2 HP submersible pumps from Zoeller, Liberty, and Wayne — the three brands that actually last in Michigan. Cast-iron housing, not plastic. 10-year warranty on the unit, lifetime warranty on the install.
Battery Backup System — $800 to $1,400 Installed
This is the part most homeowners skip — and regret. Power outages happen during the same storms that flood basements. A primary-only pump is useless if the grid is down. Our backup systems include:
- Sealed AGM battery (lasts 7+ years)
- Smart charger that maintains battery and runs self-tests
- Audible alarm if battery is low or primary failed
- Optional WiFi monitoring (alerts your phone)
Water-Powered Backup — $900 to $1,600 Installed
An alternative to battery backup. Uses municipal water pressure to siphon water out — no batteries to replace, no power needed. Only works if you have city water with good pressure (not well water). Great peace of mind for vacation homes.
When to Replace Your Sump Pump
- Older than 8 years (lifespan is 7–10)
- Runs constantly, even without rain
- Makes grinding or rattling sounds
- Visible rust on the housing
- Cycles on/off rapidly (failing float switch)
If any of these describe your pump, replace it BEFORE the next storm. Emergency replacements during active flooding cost 2–3x the planned price.
